Corporation Commission repeals efficiency standards as energy demand hits all-time high

The Arizona Corporation Commission this month repealed the state’s energy efficiency standards. They’d been in effect for about 15 years. That followed utility regulators doing away with Arizona’s renewable energy standards. The GOP-controlled commission argued the rules were outdated and costing Arizona residents money. But critics of the move, like Diane Brown, say the opposite is true. Brown is executive director of the Arizona Public Interest Research Group Education Fund.
