Arizona leaders have long touted the state’s aspiration to be the “solar capital of the world.”

According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Agency, last year Arizona was among the top states in the country, in terms of the number of solar power customers who sold energy back to the grid. But, it turns out, Arizona could be generating even more solar energy — without installing more panels. The reason we’re not? The region’s high summer temperatures.
