A European solar industry manufacturer will open its first U.S. facility in Goodyear by the end of the year, adding about 250 jobs in the suburb west of Phoenix. 

That could grow to more than 500 jobs when the plant hits full capacity. 

Switzerland-based Meyer Burger will produce residential and  commercial rooftop solar modules, as well as modules for utility-scale applications, at the facility.
