Arizona Public Service is once again reaching for your wallet. It is apparently not enough that the profits of the state’s most powerful utility are rocketing ever higher. Not enough that Gov. Katie Hobbs and the Legislature — many of them beneficiaries of APS’ largesse — recently gifted utilities both with protection from wildfire liability and the ability to stick its customers with debts previously paid by shareholders. Now, APS wants a rate hike along with a boost in its allowable profitability and “more regular and efficient base rate adjustments.”
